A number of years ago, I felt overwhelmed with responsibility, worried I couldn't fulfill my job or solve the problems, and in my mind, leaving it wasn't an option. Being guided by my mentor, I took action by studying with one of the best motivational people, Tony Robbins. I was able to identify my limiting beliefs, and learn how to evaluate where I was stuck, and why.  That was over 20 years ago and not a day goes by that I do not apply the principles I learned - How to identify the area of discontent, determine what needs to change, and most of all -- TAKE ACTION!

Yoga Therapy for Women with Stress Related Chronic Conditions

YES, you can do Yoga! That's what I say to those who tell me they have tried yoga and it isn't for them. Can't get down on the floor? Postures too hard? Use of terminology I don't understand? I get it! I thought the same thing until I decided I had to do something to slow down my anxieties - You know that "thing" that keeps you from sleeping, eating healthy, and generally being happy? When I was told by a doctor that my cholesterol was sky high and that medication would lower the risk of heart attack, I thought, "no way!"  Yoga became my answer, and studying with master teacher Gary Kraftsow gave me the tools to make some significant and healthy lifestyle changes. It became my deciding factor to alter my career and choose health and happiness over stress and anxiety.

LEARN SELF-CARE TECHNIQUES  

YOGA THERAPY WORKS!  Research has shown that yoga therapy is effective in reducing stress-related conditions* and in improving chronic ailments - source.  This approach is holistic, individualized, and combines techniques to yield the greatest benefit to your situation and goals. The focus of yoga therapy is to teach you the methods that will help you manage your own care. Common tools are physical movement adapted to your needs, breathing exercises, visioning, journaling, and mind relaxation. 

YOGA THERAPY ADAPTED TO YOU  

Our first meeting is an information gathering session so that I can learn more about your health background, other professionals with whom you might be working, area(s) of concern, and what you want to gain from the therapeutic sessions. You will also receive an assessment of any physical restrictions or challenges such as low back pain, neck and shoulder tension you might have. Together, we will begin to develop the steps to bring your body towards a healthier balance. You will leave with a written plan and home practice based on your needs and goals. Follow-up sessions are focused on evaluating what is working or not and refining your plan so that it continues to support your desired outcomes. 

I have over 1300 hours of therapeutic-based training through the accredited American Viniyoga Institute, and I am a Certified Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists.  My own story is evidence that with the appropriate application -- YOGA WORKS!
